I'm Ryan, the man behind Sturdy Ground.

I love living life outdoors and on the go, and through that I've developed a deep curiosity for the gear that makes it all possible: the stuff that helps you explore efficiently, stay comfortable, and get home safely.

I'm someone who loves experimenting with what goes in my pockets, bags, and vehicles. Sturdy Ground started because I spend my free time going down rabbit holes researching gear, rebuilding my kits, and fine-tuning my setups. I've learned a lot in the process. Since I appreciate the gear reviewers who have helped me hone my carry, I wanted to give back to the community of gear nerds just like me.

I often found only the top-of-the-line, most expensive, and often overkill gear was being promoted and it was harder to find real-world reviews for the "regular dudes" like me. I figured there had to be other people out there who wanted honest, thoughtful content without the hype, the hard sell, or the assumption that everyone has an unlimited budget.

So that's what I'm building here. A resource for likeminded people who want to learn, explore, and share ideas about gear, adventure, systems, and travel.
